We are excited to share an important funding opportunity that could significantly enhance your academic collaborations with U.S. institutions. The American Embassy has announced the availability of the IDEAS Program (Increase and Diversify Education Abroad for U.S. Students), which offers grants of up to $35,000 to U.S. colleges and universities. These grants are designed to support the development of study abroad programs and partnerships that align with U.S. foreign policy goals.

Although the IDEAS Grants are only available for U.S. institutions to apply, Greek universities can play a pivotal role by flagging this opportunity to their U.S. academic partners. By doing so, your American counterparts can seek this funding to support and expand U.S.-Greek academic exchanges and joint programming.

The IDEAS Program can help fund various activities that build study abroad capacity, such as (but not limited to):

• Conducting site visits to strengthen relationships with current or prospective partners.
• Designing new curricula tailored to joint academic goals.
• Training faculty and staff to better support international exchanges.

We encourage you to inform your U.S. partners about this opportunity so they can keep an eye on it when applications open in fall 2024. This funding could be instrumental in launching or expanding collaborative projects, with the next grant competition anticipated to open in fall 2024 for projects beginning in summer 2025.
